This week in swallow class we have been writing up our school council speeches and posters for our election next Thursday. We have all written up speeches about the role we want to go for. The roles are Chair, Treasurer and secretary and if you don’t win chair you could be vice chair.
We have also been working on a book called wonder by R .J. Palacio it’s about a boy called August who starts school. We have done character descriptions on August we have also done some comprehension work on the book.
In maths, we are looking at place value and addition. The maths lessons are always interactive and enjoyable. We have been estimating and adding 5-digit numbers.
In art, we have been doing Wood-block printing inspired by Thomas Beswick. Firstly we made a backdrop by merging two colours together. Then using different tools we drew a certain thing in or around the playground.
In science, we have been looking at healthy diets and how much sugar you should have a day in tea spoons for example an adult male should have around 9-9.25 teaspoons a day and for a female is around 7-7.5 teaspoons. We also learnt how to estimate the average grams of sugar is in a teaspoon which is 4g.
